What personal data we collect and why we collect it

Comments

When visitors leave comments on the site we collect the data shown in the comments form, and also the visitor’s IP address and browser user agent string to help spam detection. This makes your name, website address and comment (but not your email address) viewable by the general public on the website.

An anonymized string created from your email address (also called a hash) may be provided to the Gravatar service to see if you are using it. The Gravatar service privacy policy is available here. After approval of your comment, your profile picture is visible to the public in the context of your comment.

Contact form

Our contact form requires minimum information from the submitter – just an email and your message. We use your email address just to contact you in reply to your message (if needed). This information is kept private and we don’t share it with third-parties.

Cookies

The website does use some cookies (small text files that are stored on a computer for record-keeping purposes) when you browse it. These are used to ensure the proper running of this website, and also to help us improve your experience when browsing. Some cookies remain on your computer until you delete them. Others expire when you close your browser. You may set your browser setting to attempt to reject cookies (see below).

Cookies do not contain any information that personally identifies you, but personal information that we store about you may be linked by us, to the information stored in and obtained from cookies.

We may use the information we obtain from your use of our cookies for the following purposes: to recognise your computer when you visit the Site, to track you as you navigate the Site, and to enable the use of certain features on the Site, to improve the Site’s usability, to analyse use of the Site, in the administration of the Site, to improve the security of the Site, to personalise the Site for you, including targeting advertisements which may be of particular interest to you.

For example, if you leave a comment on our site you may opt-in to save your name, email address and website in cookies. These are for your convenience so that you do not have to fill in your details again when you leave another comment. These cookies will last for one year.

When you use the Site, you may also be sent cookies by selected third parties who may use the information they obtain from your use of their cookies: to track your browser across multiple websites, to build a profile of your web surfing, to target advertisements which may be of particular interest to you.

Embedded content from other websites

Articles on this site may include embedded content (e.g. videos, images, articles, odds feed etc.). Embedded content from other websites behaves in the exact same way as if the visitor has visited the other website.

These websites may collect data about you, use cookies, embed additional third-party tracking, and monitor your interaction with that embedded content, including tracking your interaction with the embedded content if you have an account and are logged in to that website.

Linked Sites

Our site may contain links to third party websites, including social media features such as Facebook, Twitter or Google+ buttons and feeds as well as banners and widgets from bookmakers. We are not responsible for the privacy practices or content of any linked sites and the linked sites may collect personally identifiable information from you that is not subject to our control. The data collection practices of linked sites will be governed by that site’s privacy policy.

Analytics

We may use Google Analytics to analyse the use of the Site. Google Analytics generates statistical and other information about website use by means of cookies, which are stored on users’ computers. Who we share your data with

We don’t not share any personal data with anyone.

How long we retain your data

We don’t keep the contact form submissions. After reading them, we reply (if needed) and delete the message.

Google Analytics retains data before automatically deleting it: 38 months.

If you leave a comment, the comment and its metadata are retained indefinitely. This is so we can recognize and approve any follow-up comments automatically instead of holding them in a moderation queue.

What rights you have over your data

If you have an account on this site, or have left comments, you can request (via our contact form) to receive an exported file of the personal data we hold about you, including any data you have provided to us. You can also request that we erase any personal data we hold about you. This does not include any data we are obliged to keep for administrative, legal, or security purposes.
